In January of 2020 the Downtown Little Rock Partnership began working with Josh on a sticker design that represented Little Rock as “Everyone’s Neighborhood.” The impending pandemic tested the city, it’s residents, and businesses in ways never seen before. As the community rallied around each other in mutual support, it became further evident that Little Rock truly was “Everyone’s Neighborhood.”
“I moved to Little Rock four years ago. This city and the people in it have provided me with several unique opportunities. I’m honored that The Downtown Little Rock Partnership has given me the chance to work with community leaders and use my creative skills to contribute back to our wonderful community.” – Josh Coker
Partnering with local artist Matt McLeod, the Downtown Little Rock Partnership decided to transform Josh’s sticker design into a vibrant and captivating mural to celebrate the city’s perseverance through the pandemic. To further recognize the efforts of the community, the painting of the mural was opened to anyone who wanted to volunteer.
This will be a mural unlike anything we have ever done before, with striking iridescent and metallic colors and, most importantly, it will be painted with the community’s hands. We couldn’t think of a more fitting mural on which to have the community’s involvement…
…Our city pulled through the pandemic and we now wear the “Everyone’s Neighborhood” motto as a badge of pride – a symbol of how strong we are when we work together, show empathy, and spread love. – DLRP
Everyone’s Neighborhood was dedicated by Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. on July 15, 2021.
