We all know that tacos have their own designated day of the week. But what about pizza?

In our house, pizza days tend to fall somewhere from Thursdays to Saturdays. I suppose it’s because nothing signals the weekend like a delightful pie and some cold beer. What’s your local go-to for pizza? We have so many choices in town, it’s quite hard to narrow down a favorite. But what is it that keeps you going back to that favorite circle of life?

I may be stretching the dough here, but in many ways I believe that an excellent pizza is like a good marketing campaign. No matter how you slice it.

Stay with me on this – a lot of this information is on a knead-to-know basis.

A good marketing plan is like an excellent pizza in that both are carefully planned and crafted. They both meet specific goals, and both deliver a satisfying experience. They create experiences  you want to repeat.

But exactly what are the ingredients required for creating successful marketing campaigns and pizza?

1. Both require attention to detail

Just as a great pizza is meticulously crafted with attention to detail – making sure all the right ingredients are included, a good marketing plan is meticulously planned and executed with precision. It all begins with a well-thought-out plan.

2. Both are audience driven

Your favorite pizza is tailored to your  specific tastes, and similarly, a good marketing plan is tailored to the needs and preferences of your target audience.

3. Both require a blend of flavors

A great pizza has the right blend of flavors and toppings to create a delightful taste, and a good marketing plan has a balance of different tactics, channels and strategies to achieve a harmonious marketing mix.  A cheese pizza is fine, but sometimes, the added ingredients take your dining experience to the next level.

4. Both meet specific goals

A good pizza satisfies your hunger and delivers a positive, even a memorable experience. A good marketing plan meets will meet your specific business goals and deliver measurable results. It’s an experience you will want to repeat regularly.

5. Both evoke emotions

Just as a great pizza can can give rise to positive emotions and bring people together, a good marketing plan will allow you to connect with your audience and bring them  closer to you brand.

Let’s face it – you want YOUR pizza to be delicious,  carefully crafted and tailored to your specific tastes. When complete, you want to be satisfied (or stuffed?) so you will go to bed that night knowing that yes, this one absolutely delivered.
